Services  provided

I am always happy to discuss with patients, either by phone, email or other platforms, their needs before booking any appointment to see if the treatments provided here are appropriate for their needs.

Primary Assessment

  • This is a longer appointment which will including reviewing your medical history including any allergies you may have and your current medication.

  • You will have a neurovascular assessment where your pulses will be checked along with whether there is any loss of the protective sensation in your feet.

  • An assessment of the skin and nails is undertaken, and where necessary it may be recommended that samples may be sent for analysis (this can normally be done at the same appointment).

  • A basic foot wear assessment will be completed along with advice on footwear if needed.

  • If you are diabetic a diabetic foot assessment will be completed, and a report sent to your GP with your prior agreement.

  • If you require a referral to your GP or other health care professional this is included in the fee.

  • Together we will agree a treatment plan for you and where appropriate treatment will begin at this appointment. If it is not possible then a further appointment will be booked for as soon as possible.

Biomechanical Assessment

  • This is an assessment to look at the way the foot and lower limb function, it will involve examining the range of motion of joints and the way muscles are working.

  • The examination will be in chair, weight bearing and during gait (walking), so it is important you bring with you shorts so that the whole limb can be observed.

  • It may lead onto the use of strapping, temporary insoles, orthoses, strengthening and stretching exercises, exercise modification recommendations or footwear advise.

Routine Treatment

  • Follow up appointments for general foot care. Such as nail cutting, the thinning of thickened nails, corn enucleation or callus debridement.

  • If it is longer than 18 months since you were last seen in clinic you will need to have a primary assessment before resuming routine treatment appointments.

Biomechanical follow up

  • A longer appointment than a routine appointment giving time to assess progress and build on this.

Verrucae treatment

  • Services offered in clinic include the use of caustics, verrutop, cryotherapy and needling (under local anaesthesia).

Nail Surgery

  • Nail surgery performed under a local anaesthetic.

  • Nails removal, or nail avulsion is carried out for a number of reasons, including ingrowing nails, trauma or infection.

  • Sometimes the whole nail is removed, known as a total nail avulsion, othertimes a section of the nail maybe removed, a partial nail avulsion.

  • Depending upon the reason for the nail removal a chemical, phenol, maybe applied to prevent nail regrowth. It would be discussed with you at your primary assessment if this was appropriate for you.

  • This is a package which includes 2 redressing appointments, a dressing pack to use for the initial few dressing changes done at home and a six week post procedural check.

Diabetic foot checks

  • Diabetic foot checks involve checking on your general health, your medication, and looking at your individual foot care needs.

  • There is a physical examination which includes vascular and neurological testing.

  • The results of these along with your medical history and any existing foot pathology would be used  to establish whether there are any changes you or your other health care providers need to be aware of, to ensure that the treatment you receive at the clinic is still appropriate and if necessary to refer you for further tests or treatment.

  • With your prior permission a copy of your diabetic assessment will be sent to your GP.

Extended Routine Appointment

  • For appointments where extra time may be required. This would have been explained to you at the time of booking and will have been discussed as part of your primary assessment or at a previous routine appointment.

Redressing  Appointment

  • Dressing appointments maybe required if there is ulceration or infection present, and in some cases additional redressing appointments may be required following nail surgery.

Fungal Nail and Skin Treatment

  • Conservative care - cutting and thinning of the nails whilst not actively treating the fungal infection.

  • Active Nail care - nail thinning and the use topical products to treat the infection.

  • Clearanail - a specialist, painless procedures where tiny holes are drilled through the nail allowing topical products to penetrate through the nail.

  • Nail Surgery - permanent or temporary removal of the nail

  • Anti fungal treatments to treat skin, nails and footwear availble to purchase in clinic.

emergency out of hours appointments
