Covid-19 Frequently Asked Questions

Updated: Jun 19, 2020

Many patients have had queries regarding Covid-19 and how it will affect their treatment and if they can be seen. As you can imagine the guidelines change rapidly so please check back here for updates.

Can I have an appointment?

Podiatrists have been working throughout the Pandemic. Earlier in the lockdown we were only permitted to see urgent cases but this has now changed and we can see most patients who require treatment. Exceptions to this include anyone with symptoms of Covid-19 or anyone who can be treated remotely via video or telephone.

What treatments are available?

Currently I am not providing 15 minute appointments but primary assessments, routine treatments, nail surgery, and diabetic checks are available.

How do I book an appointment now?

You can either phone, text or email me as usual or you can use the contact form on the website.

You will be asked about your podiatry need and you will be advised whether a phone/video consultation or a face to face appointment is advised.

The day before your appointment you will be called to go through a consent form and to screen you for symptoms of Coronavirus.

What have you implemented to keep me safe?

There are lots of changes in addition to those above these include -

• an enhanced cleaning/hygiene system, where all surfaces touched by me or the patient are thoroughly sanitised, for example the floor, door handles, the treatment chair and the card payment machine.

• 15 minute gaps between all patients to allow for cleaning and to ensure that there is no crossover of patients.

• I will be monitoring my temperature throughout the day and will be wearing PPE (personal protective equipment). This may be gloves, mask, aprons, goggles or visor. I have also invested in a perspex screen which is between you and I whilst treating you.

• All payments will be contactless, either card payment or bank transfer.

Is there still a risk of catching Corinvirus?

Yes but it is unlikely. Despite the enhanced infection control measures it is still possible, the risk is low but you will be required to consent to this risk.

How do you treat me while adhering to the 2m rule?

It is impossible to treat you at 2m which is why I will be wearing PPE.

Are you still offering home visits?

Yes but only for existing home visit patients and the number available is very limited.

What happens when I arrive at the clinic?

You will be asked to wait in your car or away from the entrance of the clinic until you are called in. Please have you face covering on as you approach. I will come out to greet you and to check you are still symptom free and to take your temperature, if this is normal you’ll be welcomed into the clinic where you will need to use the hand sanitiser. Payment will be taken before treatment and you will be asked to sign the consent form, after which you will be treated as normal.

Cancellation fees

If you need to cancel because of coronavirus you will not be charged, this is to encourage you to follow the governments rules to self isolate and get tested.
